The Jackson Files

Hello 2008

31 December 2007 · 1 Comment

I don’t hold much score by New Year’s resolutions and new beginnings and fresh sarts and all that because I believe that a person’s New Year surely starts with their birthday.

However, two years ago I woke up on 1 January and I just knew that 2006 was going to change my life forever – and blow me down if I wasn’t pregnant three months later.

I have the same weird feeling about this year, and because love shines its light on me and Jackson…well…who knows…anyone up for a wedding?

I asked Jackson what his New Year’s resolution was and he said: to be happy. And you can’t say fairer than that, can you?

So to end 2007 – my year of FUN – here is the obligatory comedy sunglass shot.

Enjoy your evenings everyone – may you all get a snog at midnight.

Where’s your dummie, dummie?

Jackson has worked out where I keep his dummies and so can now often be found wandering around looking like this…

On another note, naked vacuuming anyone?

Like I mentioned before, most of the presents under the tree on Christmas day were for the thoroughly deserving Jackson.

However, somehow – and I really don’t know how – clever, clever little Jackson managed to buy me a present too. And not just any present, EXACTLY what I wanted.

Thank you, my precious baby boy, I love them (and I love you). XXXXX

Thanks to these delightful gentlemen…

…Jackson just loves eating his food/feeding himself.

Which means his post-meal plate always looks like this…

Which makes me very happy.

Who knew cutlery could bring such joy?

Two minutes is all it takes

The other day I was busy making lunch for Jackson when suddenly this eerie quiet settled over the house.

My Mum-senses-trouble-radar immediately kicked in, so I went off to find Jackson – who looked like this…

Naughty little monkey.

Happy Birthday Jesus

So I was listening to my recently purchased, get-into-the-spirit-of-Christmas Michael BublĂ© cd and thinking to myself that this music is so middle-aged and that I should be ashamed to admit that I like it, but I’m really not, and then I realised…OMG…it’s just possible that I AM MIDDLE-AGED. (But I also bought the latest CafĂ© del Mar album. Youthful, yeah?)

Today was the first Christmas I have spent with my entire family in at least…I don’t know…12 years. It was also the first Christmas I have ever spent with my parents when my sister and I haven’t been the kids.

Today was about Jackson…

…95% of those presents were his.

And Lily…

And Matthew…

But not me…

Totally SAD.

On another note…when I was in Rome in September 2006, six months pregnant, after a near perfect holiday with my lovely friends, I bought this (ubër-expensive) t-shirt (size 18 months) for Jackson with the express purpose of him wearing it on his first Christmas in SA…

He out-grew it at least four months ago.

Not about Jackson at all

Last night, the sunset was incredible, so I took a picture while I was driving to an AWESOME party…

This morning, my Dad took me for breakfast – in his plane…

First stop = Parys (this is not Parys, just the journey)

Then a quick fly-over the Johannesburg CBD…

And finally a tour of the top of my apartment complex…

Jackson is fine, by the way.

Cute overload

21 December 2007 · Leave a Comment

Cute Overload is one of the best websites in the world, ever. Fact.

And today Jackson’s day was just one big cute overload – filled with blue-eyed babas and fluffy pups (that’s babies and puppies for people who don’t talk cute) and Santa hats and toast.

BTW, eating toast with your fork is only cute if you are one year and 25 days old

Look what happened to Jackson in the space of five minutes while we were playing yesterday afternoon:

1. Chest wound

2. Face wound
