So Hong Kong, right. It’s a shopper’s paradise.

The problem is that with a Chinese speaking nation, most of the signage is in Chinese.

So it’s really hard to work out what they’re sell…oh…

…ooohhhhhhhhh…

…sigh, I think I want a hair potato…or potato hair…or whatever.

And then I saw this in the toilet, and I just wasn’t sure WHAT to think.

No, thank YOU for your co-operation.

But picture this…I am sitting in an IRISH pub in the middle of Kowloon, kind of undecided as to whether I should watch the ruby or not. It’s 8.00pm-ish, and I’m not sure if I’m jet lagged, tipsy, tired or all three.
I also cannot decide if I should buy a wide angle lense or a zoom lense – Bob says wide angle, does anyone else have any other suggestions…Sarah, mmmmm?
I had a really funny picture to post too, so I am tres disappointed by the lack of photo plugging in facilities.
So guess what? I was on the same flight over here as Team SA Paraolympians. I was sitting real close by to a very, very pretty swimmer (only one leg, dudes – major respect) and another athlete (not so pretty, said the word dude A LOT which became rather annoying after a while) and they were lamenting the fact that the whole team was offered complementary upgrades to business class except that there weren’t enough seats so all the management took the upgrade and they (the athletes) had to sit in economy. Hey DUDES I’m not certain that that’s cool.
I also sat just next to the toilet, which has gotta be the suckiest seat on the whole aircraft. FACT.
Today I missioned to H&M on Hong Kong Island, and just next to it was a Marks & Spencer, omfg! a little piece of English shopping heaven in the middle of all the Chinese chaos. And the best thing? Well, the best thing is that all these Hong Kongians Hong Kongese ladies from Hong Kong are so tiny that there was LOADS of stuff in my size left (MEDIUM AND SIZE 12 PEOPLE, MEDIUM AND SIZE 12).
You want another guess what? Well. I am typing this on a keyboard of Chinese characters, no abc, it’s taking me forever.
Oh dear, I have a sneaking suspicion that this is one of those drunkish, rambly posts.

It’s amazing what you can do with a piece of white paper and a yellow wax crayon.
I will try and capture the whole bubbly blossomy goodness of Jackson in his flower hat sometime before I fly, but he is being all camera shy at the moment.
Which is why I am STILL drudging out pictures from Mauritius.

I am going to China tomorrow (no Jackson) for a week of business meetings.
I have 1,000,000,0001 things to do before then INCLUDING making a MANLY spring day bonnet (WTF) for my son to wear to school on 1 September.
Yes, I have a 1,000,000,0001 things to do, and did I mention that I am having a full body mama-meltdown at the thought of leaving my son for a week.
But Jackson? Well, Jackson is going to stay with his cousins and is so excited that I think he has already called and booked me my taxi to the airport.
I shall post from China A LOT. I shall post a picture of the hat once we have finished it. I shall post through my tears because I miss my little squirrel so much. I shall post because I don’t think there is much English tv in China. I shall post just because.

This picture was taken when Jackson was three months old. We were staying in the Garment District in New York. We took Jackson to go and see the Jackson Pollock room at the MOMA. It was fun.

I don’t know what it is about Asian/Oriental people (god, I don’t know what the correct term is sorry – but people from the Far East) and Jackson, but they just love, love, LOVE him.
Last evening, Jackson and I were having dinner out with our girl Henri at Nelson Mandela square and there was this whole troop of Malaysian (I think) girl tourists who were all having a makeshift photoshoot with Madiba’s 20ft tall statue.
Jackson was alternating between riding his bike in the fountain and generally just running around making friends, when all of a sudden ALL the ladies totally blanked Mandela and started taking pictures of themselves with Jackson. Doing the whole crazy-posing-peace-salute-thing and everything.
And this is not the first time that this has happened.
The first time was when we were at the airport waiting for our flight to Mauritius – a whole group of Japanese kids followed Jackson around for a while and eventually asked me if they could have photos taken with him. Beautiful eyes, they kept on saying.
Now I’m not too fussed about the whole idea of strangers taking photos of my precious child, because it all seemed perfectly innocent and, well, I do actually put photos up in cyberspace for strangers to ogle at my kid EVERY SINGLE DAY, but sometimes I have to wonder what on EARTH they talk about when are showing their friends and family their holiday snaps and then they suddenly come across one of my little Jackson.
